MOVING!

After some serious thought, I have decided that this blog will be moving soon! I primarily have personal reasons for making this decision, but it will also benefit YOU, my lovely readers, for me to make this move. Bravenet does not offer a lot of basics like other free blogs do - things like tags and categories which come in very handy for keeping a blog organized and for readers to quickly find just what they're looking for.

I have already set up a new blog on blogger, however I will not be sharing the link to that blog just yet. Over the next few days I am going to work on copying all of the existing posts from here to there, and will get all the categories and such set up. Please be aware that this means the Swatch Guide will no longer be necessary as the sole purpose of the swatch guide was to help you get to the swatches you were looking for since there are no categories to organize things.

I hope that this decision does not inconvenience anyone in any way. I promise that the new blog will be MUCH better, and you will be able to find the information you want much more quickly and easily there than here. I will update this post with the link to the new blog once it is up and running. After that, this blog will stay up with a notice of the move and with the new url at the top of the page and each post. I thank you all for your support and look forward to seeing you all on the new blog asap!

11/14 ETA: Well y'all, I've finished cross-posting most of the posts here to the new blog. There are a couple posts I have left out for now, because I plan to re-write them. So don't fret if you notice things missing on the new blog - they'll be there eventually!

The new blog is located at http://thenailpolishaddict.blogspot.com - be sure to update your bookmarks & subscriptions! This blog will remain here, though inactive, and commenting has been disabled. I look forward to seeing you all at the new blog!

This Isn't Nail Related, But...

  • Current Nail Polish: SH Insta-Dri "Quick Sand" with INM "Northern Lights" top coat
  • Feeling: Loved

Can I just say something here that has nothing to do with nails/nail polish?

THANK YOU.

I just took a peek at my stats for the first time in a very, very long time. And wow. You guys visiting this blog... you're amazing. I know this place seems fairly dead because there are hardly any comments, but you guys ARE reading. It's nice to know I'm not just sitting here blogging away about nail polish and talking to myself so to speak.

I also want to give a special thanks to PenelopePitstopKYD, who has left a couple comments in the tag board. While checking on my stats I got to see, also, that she's mentioned this blog on the very popular Makeup Alley. (Hence forth referred to as it's common abbreviation "MUA", not to be confused with the "MUA" referring to "makeup artist" lol!) I am not a member on MUA - I used to be a long time ago, pre-nail obsession. I don't even remember my log in info from back then and I know for a fact I deleted the email account I had used to sign up there long ago. I never really did participate there much though anyway; I'm not a forum girl - for some reason I can never seem to get into forums and the few times I have something always comes up that turns me off the given forum and I abandon it, so... but I digress. Thank you SO much for the mentions there, Penelope - I really appreciate it.

And I really do appreciate everyone who comes here to check out this blog. I know I fall behind in updating sometimes but hey, such is life.... things come up and stuff happens and as much as I love blogging and nail polish sometimes that stuff just has to be put on hold for a while. But judging by the stats you guys are always still there, and you have got no idea what that means to me.

And of course, thank you to those of you who have subscribed. That is some serious specialness (is that a word?) to me...

Y'all are seriously just the best subscribers and readers a girl could ask for. I know compared to most other nail blogs my stats are laughable at best but... to me, averaging in at 125 visits a day (yes, I crunched the numbers) is a big thing. And it's all because of YOU, my visitors.

I truly do appreciate you all taking the time to check out my posts. Thank you so, so much, from the bottom of my heart! ♥

Display Wheel swatches

I have added these to the Swatch Guide as well.

Display Wheel Swatches

This may not be exactly the same as swatches on real fingernails, but believe it or not display wheels are a very good way to accurately swatch your colors. Using the wheels to swatch also saves time, nail polish, and your cuticles from the damage of several uses of polish remover when doing multiple swatches at once. I will probably still work on getting "real" swatches done when I have the time to do them, but for now I will be doing wheel swatches only due to the fact that it's so much easier and faster while still being accurate. I use the clear wheels with 18 tips on them which are available for purchase at head2toebeauty.com

The first photo of each wheel shows the colors as photographed in natural light (shade) with no flash or exposure compensation. The second photo is in natural light (shade) with -1 exposure compensation and fill-flash. As always, be aware that while I have done my best at providing color-accurate photos due to the variances in computer monitors the colors may not be completely accurate when you view these photos.

Colors listed are in order from 1 to 18.

Some News & Things To Look Forward To

Well, once again I have to offer up my apologies for not updating in a long time. I was sick for a week in October, then I had some computer troubles and the computer eventually just quit working altogether so I was without a computer for a week while I waited for my tech to be able to look at it (he had several other computers to work on first before he could even look at it when we got it to him). Once he did get a chance to look at it, we found that it'd be best for us to just get a new computer; so we got a refurbished one from our tech, then had to get things reinstalled and such. My niece came over for a couple short visits, and there have been a lot of other things going on too. As usual, this time of year gets crazy busy with the holidays and a lot of my friends and family members have birthdays this time of year, so... I apologize in advance if I fall behind here yet again.

Anyway. Some things coming up that I am going to be trying very hard to get done and posted here: NEW wheel storage. If you read the post about nail display wheel storage then you know the CD case thing... I have since decided that while for some it very well may be an ideal solution for me it is not. The wheels have a snug fit in the CD cases, and in trying to get one of the wheels out to add a new design, the polish popped right off from one of the other designs. I was able to redo it but I wasn't happy about it. I think if you are not going to be frequently removing the wheels for any reason the CD case storage is still ok... but if you are like me and like to use the wheels a lot (I try to keep topcoats/sheer colors separate from darker nail colors so I can test the layering possibilities before actually painting my nails!) then it's not going to work so well in the long run. So, I am working on a new storage solution for my wheels. Hopefully I can get that worked out and completed before the holidays, but I can't make any promises.

Also - I am working on a tutorial for how to make your own nail art decals. This is something new I've been messing around with lately and I think I've gotten the hang of it now and can do a 'how-to' on the process. This is something I think a lot of people will enjoy learning about; it gives you the chance to do some very creative and 100% personalized designs on your nails and does not require much of an investment in money to get everything you need.

I'm also working on my nail product wish list for the holiday season; if anyone has any suggestions for things that they think I may like please feel free to share. I love having lots of things to look at and admire for my wish lists... I'm open to all suggestions, from brands of polish, specific colors, or nail art supplies you think I'd find handy (like dotting tools etc.).

I have a couple new products I want to try to review, and I am also going to try to get a "basics of nail care" post up at some point as well.

So as you can see I have a LOT on my to do list for this blog; but I also have more lists of things to do with other things so when I can get to any of these things is a mystery and I can't even guess right now when I can get to any of it. But I will do my best to get something new and interesting posted soon!

Thanks for reading (if you got all the way through that!) and thanks for commenting and subscribing too you guys... all that combined really makes blogging worth it, even if I can't get around to posting as often as I'd like here. I appreciate your sticking with me through all this chaos that is my non-nail-blogging life! ♥

Polish Pick of the Month

I have been trying to update the journal image with a new polish pick of the month but it will not save it; I'm having the same problem with my journal image on a different blog. When I test the image, it shows up fine, but I click save changes and it never goes through for some reason despite saying changes saved.

So... I'll just have to do it this way for now I suppose.

This month's polish pick of the month is Finger Paints "Wine Wristlet", a beautiful, dark glossy creme finish wine red/plummy color. It is darker than pictured, however if you were to only apply one coat it would be about what it looks like in the picture. However one coat is somewhat streaky, so two or three coats is best and gives a fabulous dark bottle color, again remember that the actual bottle color is darker than what is pictured, though there was no flash used in the picture nor was there exposure compensation used.
